Group Treatment Options

Adult Groups

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Change isn’t easy, and the road to recovery doesn’t happen overnight. Working together with others in a group setting provides support in times of pain or difficulty. Our substance use IOP groups are designed to work around your schedule, yet provide the knowledge and skills necessary for thriving in sobriety.  Intensive Outpatient substance use treatment is supportive integrated care for those seeking flexible treatment options.  Conscious Healing provides IOP substance use treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders, leading to a full life in recovery.

The Conscious Healing Intensive Outpatient Program is a ten-week program that consists of three days a week for three hours per day. We offer a morning IOP option (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 am – 12 pm) as well as an evening IOP option (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6 pm – 9 pm). In addition to attending group treatment, participants receive one individual session per week and one integrative service of choice per week as well as drug screens to provide accountability. IOP participants can request or receive a recommendation to add additional individual services or integrative services to their individualized care plan.

Emotional Management focuses on understanding and developing skills to improve the emotional literacy of participants. Participants will gain an increased ability to regulate their emotions and understand the connection between how emotions can activate a craving to use. The curriculum offers a blend of psychoeducation and experiential sessions focused on increasing awareness and identification of feelings, identifying specific emotional reactions and how they have impacted substance use. Content will include developing coping skills to manage strong emotional states, distress tolerance, and managing emotional flooding.

Recovery and Resiliency Skills focuses on developing knowledge and skills to avoid relapse and become more adaptive to persevere through difficult circumstances in sobriety. . This group provides psychoeducation and experiential opportunities for participants. Participants will gain an increased ability to manage triggers, cravings and crisis situations. This includes recognizing the signs when you are heading towards a relapse, learning about risk factors, the Stages of Change, developing refusal skills, understanding post-acute withdrawal symptoms, triggers, cravings and crisis management, cross addiction and the disease of addiction.

Expressive/Creative Arts is a complementary offering that may help participants expand their world view while gaining a deeper understanding of the underlying issues that impacted their functioning. Expressive/Creative arts will focus on expanding individuals’ adaptive strategies through modalities such as dance, psychodrama, art and theater.

The Mindfulness and Spirituality in Recovery group offers a safe environment for individuals to learn, explore, gain a deeper understanding of their core values and belief systems, and experience various mindfulness techniques and spiritual practices. During active addiction individuals often lose the ability to “be.” Instead, the brain and body became accustomed to being in an active state. The journey of recovery can often be confusing, painful, discouraging, and sometimes hopeless.

This group combines psychoeducation with experiences designed to develop more intentional skills. Participants will learn about and practice various meditation methods, engage in breathing exercises, learn how to do a body scan, and develop skills to quiet an anxious mind. Participants will also learn the difference between religion and spirituality, and be able to explore how they define a higher power in a judgment and pressure-free space.

Developing healthy habits and good life skills is a key ingredient to long term sobriety. This pychoeducation group provides information about how addiction impacts the body’s health and nutrition during recovery. Other topics include sleep hygiene, fun in recovery and building a sober network. Often it is difficult for people to get back on their feet. Finances, employment/education and time management segments are designed to develop the skills needed to live a well-rounded life and move from surviving in sobriety to thriving in sobriety.

Our Integrative Services group provides an avenue for individuals to explore the spirit, mind, and body connection by participating in services such as energy therapy (Reiki), yoga, acupuncture, sound healing, and strength training. These groups are scaled to the client’s ability and comfort level, providing an individualized plan for each person while experiencing the support of group participation. Integrative Services

Conscious Healing believes that substance use and mental health treatment is a full-body experience. We offer integrative approaches that work well to enhance cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma therapies by supporting insights through sensory activities. These experiential therapies incorporate touch, scent, movement, sound/music or drama/story activities, and encourage not only restorative healing but an enriched understanding of the self and others.

Our integrative services are an excellent addition to our Intensive Outpatient Program or individual counseling services to provide a holistic treatment experience and may be recommended or requested as an addition to your individualized care plan. These services are also available as stand-alone services for individuals seeking to learn more about their body-mind-spirit connection.

Reiki

A Japanese form of energy healing that began in the 1920’s. During Reiki sessions the practitioner can use a hands-on or hands-off approach depending on the choice of the individual. The transfer of ki or chi energy [chi translates to life force] often yields a deep sense of relaxation, a feeling of wellbeing, and reduced stress and anxiety.

Yoga

Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice that focuses on discipline and awareness in the mind and body, clearing away obstructions in order to recognize energetic flow within the self and throughout the universe. Through continued practice of yoga, individuals can learn tools to sustain positive mental health, especially when dealing with depression, anxiety, or trauma.

Hypnotherapy

Dr. Tom Capshew is certified in Ericksonian Hypnosis. Unlike traditional hypnotherapy, Ericksonian hypnotherapy uses indirect suggestion, metaphor, and storytelling to alter behavior, rather than direct suggestion. Hypnotherapy can be beneficial in addressing difficulties with cravings, anxiousness, smoking cessation, and other behaviors that can negatively affect a person’s wellbeing.

Energy Therapy

Energy Therapy can assist in releasing the past, whether it is traumatic events, occasions, comments, or negative thoughts. Energy work heightens the experience of alpha and theta brainwaves, which are produced when the body becomes calm, and the mind is completely relaxed, and positive messages help form new patterns in the neural network. Working on a subconscious level as well as an energetic level promotes spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health. Clients are not only changing behaviors and releasing old thought patterns, but they are also experiencing the possibility of living with a clear mind, centered thoughts, and sustained periods of higher functioning.

Sound Healing

Sound healing uses different vibrations to heal the body, mind, and spirit. Sound healing works through sympathetic resonance, brainwave entrainment, frequency following response, and balancing the brain’s left and right hemispheres. Through the healing power of sound, participants may experience a relaxation response, reduction in symptoms of depression, anxiety, chronic stress symptoms, insomnia, improvement in physical, emotional, and mental health, and a harmonization of the mind, body, and spirit. Let our highly skilled team bring you on a journey of recovery by opening your heart chakra using the healing vibrations of sound.

Trauma-Informed Weight Lifting

Trauma-informed weight lifting is an embodied practice and intervention that is informed by the latest in neuroscience, physiology, and trauma research. It seeks to transform weight lifting to promote and facilitate healing for trauma-impacted individuals and communities. Conscious Healing believes that the mind/body connection is an important building block for holistic healing, and through trauma-informed weight lifting sessions individuals can build a stronger connection between their body and their mind to aid in recovery.
